Welcome to Wadata Learn (powered by Tectona Group). We are building Africa's premier learning platform where your privacy is paramount.

At Tectona Group, we are committed to protecting your personal data and complying with the data protection laws and regulations, including but not limited to the Constitution of Kenya 2010, the Data Protection Act No.24 of 2019 of Kenya, where Tectona Group Limited is registered as Data Processor and Data Controller. This Privacy Notice outlines how we collect, use, share, and safeguard your personal data when you interact with our learning platform.

1 Information We Collect

1.1 Personal Information You Provide

  • Account Information: Name, email address, phone number, profile photo
  • Learning Data: Course progress, assignment submissions, quiz answers, certificates earned
  • Communications: Community discussion posts, support requests, feedback

  • Device & Browser Data: IP address, device type, browser type, operating system
  • Usage Analytics: Pages visited, courses accessed, time spent learning, interaction patterns
  • Cookies & Tracking: Session cookies, preferences, analytics

Deliver courses, track progress, issue certificates, manage enrollments, and personalize your learning experience.

Verify identities, prevent fraud, ensure platform security, and maintain integrity.

Analyze usage patterns, improve learning content, optimize course recommendations, and measure educational impact.

Send course notifications, certificate alerts, platform updates, learning reminders, and support messages.

We only share data in limited, transparent circumstances:

With Training Partners

If you enroll in a partner-sponsored training program, we share progress and completion data to support your learning journey and enable certification.

5 Data Security & Protection

Data Breach Notification

In the unlikely event of a security breach affecting your personal data, we will notify you within 72 hours as required by law, along with remediation steps.

6 Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your data only as long as necessary and legally required:

Active Account Data

Stored while your account is active and for 3 years after account closure.

Learning Records & Certificates

Certificate records are kept indefinitely to allow verification. Course completion records are retained for 7 years.

Account Deletion

You can delete your account anytime. We will permanently erase your personal data within 30 days, except where legal retention is required.

7 Children's Privacy

Wadata Learn is designed for users 18 years and older. For youth aged 16-17, we require parental consent to create an account. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16 without verified parental permission.

If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a minor without proper consent, please contact us immediately at jambo@wadata.africa and we will delete it promptly.

8 Changes to This Privacy Notice

We may update this Privacy Notice periodically. We will:

  • Post the updated Privacy Notice on this page with the revised "Last Updated" date
  • Notify you via email or in-app notification for material changes

Your continued use of Wadata Learn after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised Privacy Notice.
